There is always a balance to be made when creating your summer beauty make up looks – there is a consistent fine line between dewy & sweaty. But how do you ‘Get The Glow?’ Long-lasting wear is the name of the game, for a make up look that lasts all day, even in the heat. I’ve trialled some of the top selling beauty products at centre:mk to create the perfect sun-kissed summer beauty looks that won’t fade in a flash. My top summer make up tips to get the glow:
- Mix up new beauty products with classic essentials. Have your ‘eye’ on the ball for new brands and latest tech.
- Always start with SPF and a decent eye gel.
- Less is more for the warm summer months
- Pair back the eyes
- Illuminate, at all times.
- Create the appearance of an even skin tone – this will always make you look younger.
- Choose products that are multi-tasking with multi-functionality. Contour powder that can double up as eyeshadow, highlighter that you can use on your lips.
- Don’t break the bank – filter ‘no frills’ brands into your make up bag alongside luxury products.

Before shot – no make up

After shot – using 5 products listed below giving an airbrushed, sculpted, dewy finish.
Finding a shopping centre with a broad selection of brands and shade range is essential so you can try new looks all in one go. Buying new brands or products online without trialling them is never easy. So get down to Milton Keynes centre:mk which houses all the established brands but is also one of the first centres to launch FENTY BEAUTY by Rihanna make-up range in Boots. For an airbrushed, yet lightweight effect and serious ‘staying power’ without cracking or melting, I really recommend new FENTY Beauty PRO FILTR Soft Matt Longwear Foundation £27 from Boots (Rihanna has created 50 shades! I’m wearing shade 280 for warm neutral skin tones). Truly THE Holy Grail of foundations.
Decent base is the savvy starting point, an SPF and good quality moisturiser…working step by step with clever eye contour gel to ‘depuff’. Tired eyes are never a good look in the summer. No frills, cult brand ‘The Ordinary’ has taken the beauty world by storm. Less packaging, fuss free, ingredient focussed products. Boots centre:mk is one of only eight stores in the UK to stock The Ordinary. I’ve tested the Caffeine Solution 5% Eye Contour Gel £5.80 from Boots. Absolutely game changing formulations for reducing my puffy under eye area! Fresh as a summer Daisy.
Head to John Lewis or House of Fraser for the best of the best in luxury beauty products from Charlotte Tilbury, MAC and Urban Decay. These brands have captured our attention for providing products that keep our looks up to date. From retro 1970’s sunkissed vibes to monochromatic makeup, from illumination to glossy pouts. ‘Get The Glow’ has never been so easy.
Urban Decay, renowned for its palettes, with quality, long-lasting pigments which blend with ease, means contouring is made simple. I’ve been using the Urban Decay Shape Shifter Contour Palette £39 Even better, it doubles up as eye shadow.
Layer exquisite, best selling, illuminating highlighter from Charlotte Tilbury. The Glowgasm beauty light wand in Peachgasm, £29, pat over the apples of your cheeks, swipe over your eye lids, down the middle of your nose, cupids bow and crease of your chin to create a dewy (non sweaty) glow. Charlotte promises us a Hollywood flawless face glow.
Finish off the look with one of the worlds best lip glosses from MAC Lipglass £16. I’ve tested the MAC Lipglass in Dreamy (a pearlised pink) shade. 57 shades all giving a ‘glass-effect’ finish. With it’s ‘Oilshine’ technology, my lips are smooth, dewy and totally kissable.
