Best 6 Winter Coats

Channelling your inner glamour doesn’t have to break the bank.  Impactful winter coats have become a wardrobe staple.  It’s a trend that everyone can get on board with as we see faux fur fancies and beautiful borgs take the high street by storm.  The balance needs to be right though, none of us want to look like we are donning our duvet or joining the ranks of the TeleTubbies.  Choosing the right colour for you is essential and remember heavy black is not always flattering, so opt for winter coats in your best pinks or reds.  Chunky winter coats aren’t for everyone of course, so if you’re on the search for a slim line, smart-casual neutral jacket,...

Best white outfits

There is no purer colour than white, sublime in it’s simplicity, powerful in it’s contrast. Yet for most, white outfits are tricky to wear.  No-one wants to channel the hospital look, reminiscent of the doctor’s lab coat or straight jacket garb…neither do we want to look like we’re about to hop up the aisle in our wedding dress.  We want white to look pretty OR cool, keeping it simple yet effective.  I’ve selected my best white outfits which are all useful choices for a variety of body shapes due to their flattering necklines and hem lengths. Madison Avenue polka dot midi dress from STITCH AND WARE, £70. Comes with large pockets!   ...

Wimbledon hair

Hello my Wimbledon hair.  If I could sum up our relationship, I’d say it’s been tumultuous.  The ups and downs more perilous than a rollercoaster.  Good days, bad days, tears and laughter, you’ve been with me through thick and thin.  What stories you could tell, from creeping toddler curls to concealing teenage angst.  You’ve mopped up tears and been torn apart.  Sometimes I didn’t know who you were, why would you behave that way; the frizz, the kinks, the split ends…and now?  Hair, they say, is 90% of the selfie, so only the best will do.  But where in Wimbledon I hear you ask, well question no more, as our latest arrival is Robert Kirby. YEYS! A...

Personal Shopping

Is this your style life? You struggle to find the time to shop, are unsure what colours suit you best, don’t know which brands would flatter your body shape and always panic buy or end up frustrated, then personal shopping could be the answer you’re looking for.  But what is ACTUALLY involved and what can you expect to experience and discover when out shopping? This is my client Karina and this is her transformational style story.  As a full time working mum approaching 40, Karina felt her current style was full of neutrals and darker colours.  With no time to search online or get to the shops as well as being worried about the aging process Karina...

Style & Nutrition

It’s hard to find time to self-motivate at the start of a new year…’busyness’ is becoming so prevalent in today’s society.  Many don't know that the greatest enemy of good thinking is ‘busyness?’.  We must find the time to think and learn, to make those crucial steps to improve our health and wellbeing from the inside and from the outside.  We spend £125 servicing our cars each year, well what about spending it on a body MOT at our Wimbledon Style & Nutrition event at HDV Cannizaro House on Sunday 28th January? Link to tickets Tickets include lunch and a fabulous goody bag. Maybe you had a binge-happy Christmas, overdoing the mulled wine, overloading on mince pies and resorting...

Body Confidence at 40

I’ve always felt progress is impossible without change.  But change is daunting, intimidating and quite often scary. But then again, the only thing scarier than change is if you let that fear stop you from evolving, progressing or having the courage to try new things. As Sheryl Sandberg (CEO of Facebook) said, ‘fear is only a lack of confidence’. Now couple this with a dose of anxiety and low self esteem regarding elements of the way you look, embarrassment over parts of your body and perceived judgement from others.  It’s common to feel obliged to hide your feelings, internalise your dismay and disappointment in your lack of body confidence.  I’ve experienced all the above; the anxiety and...

A starry starry night

The runways for AW 18 were scattered with celestial references, full of allure, sparkle and attraction.  The star, a lucky symbol for some, is the magical masterpiece of the latest Stella jewellery range from CARAT*.  Interlaced with sterling silver and white gold, these star jewellery pieces are designed to reflect the ancient idea of wishing upon a star and have been developed as dreamy keepsakes to pass down through generations.  They are THE gift to buy for Christmas this year. Each piece is exquisite and totally versatile.  The Astrid bracelet, £129, Cosmo necklace, £159, and Nova drop earrings £109, are full of charm and an effortless elegance when worn together, particularly when paired with the Baby Noa stacking ring collection,...

Best Buys Blanket Cape

Ihave a little secret to share.  My absolute must-have this Winter is the blanket cape.  You can forget about stuffing arms into tight jackets, overheating, creasing your silk blouse or ruining the all important aesthetics of your outfit.  The layering of each piece, the mix of textures and colours, as well allowing each item to show off and have a moment to shine is crucial.  It’s artistic, in fact, the outfit itself becomes a piece of art…actually let’s be brutal, fashion IS art.  The blanket cape is the ultimate ‘frame’ to your artwork.  I’ve selected my favourite blanket capes for you…so it’s time to sell on last year’s coats, make room in your wardrobe and get shopping....

My style guide The Maxi Dress

It’s all about the maxi dress this season, such a major trend to pin your sartorial hopes on, especially if you need to channel easy-chic…when you want to look like you’ve tried hard, without trying hard, at all, and I’m genuinely NOT joking.  It’s the ultimate stylist tip, the mega maxi dress, but the trick is in the shape and colour you choose, yet it’s not always as easy as it seems. It’s one of the greatest debates and I frequently find myself squashing objections. Some think it’s not for the ‘petite’, too overdressed for the office and certainly a no-no for weekend wear.  BUT the maxi can be ALL of these things to you, and more – it’s an extreme...
